Step 1: 

Your personal items should be placed in a box, duffel bag, or suitcase. Every item you mail must weigh no more than 50lbs. Each overweight package is subject to a $75 overweight fee.
→ We do not provide shipping boxes or pre-paid shipping labels.
→ Create your shipping labels on fed-ex, UPS or USPS website!
→ Recommended sizing is 18x18x18 and to use heavy duty double layered!
→ USS is not responsible for any damage due to packing and shipping. You can add insurance to your packages through the selected carrier

Step 2:

Put a shipping label and the USS customer identification label on each item you are shipping.
→ The address you ship your items to can be found on your USS customer identification label. 
→This label will not be released to you if you are missing housing information.
→ US Postal Service is not recommended in Chicago, IL
→ Remember, you can ship it to us up to 2 weeks in advance to ensure we get it on time for placement into the room. We must have all packages by the specified deadline date!

Step 3:

Are your items packed? Did you review the deadline dates online? Do you have your shipping label and USS customer identification label on them? Great! Time to ship your items! All items must be to our facility by the deadline date of August 16th.
→ We do not allow packages to be dropped off by students or parents.
→ We will charge according to the total number of boxes you send. Ex: If you register for 2 boxes and we receive 5, you will be charged for the additional 3 automatically after we receive them.
→ Any items received after the specified deadline date are considered late packages and they will be rejected and returned to sender. No exceptions. 

Step 4:

Your items will be delivered to your residence hall by USS. These items should arrive before your arrival or assigned move-in time.
→ Orders with incomplete housing information are not guaranteed to be in the room prior to move-in

The home-to-room fee of $55.00 per box/item that you pay to USS includes the temporary storage of the item(s) and the delivery of the item(s) into your room. However, please note that this fee does not cover any shipping costs.

Please check out your local Fed-Ex, UPS or USPS website to view shipping rates! Since we are not a shipping company, we are unable to provide these details to you.

If you find that you need to send more boxes than originally planned, there's no need to worry! Simply follow the steps outlined above as usual, and we will charge your card for the additional items once we receive them.

Applicable fees:

  • Overweight fee: $75.00
  • Late Acceptance Fee (not a guarantee): $15.00/ per item

  • Recommended Shipping carriers?
    UPS or Fed-ex! They have the most accurate and up-to-date tracking compared to USPS.
    • USPS is NOT recommended in the Chicago area! They will not deliver to our facility.
  • Do you provide the boxes?
    No, we do not.
  • Do you provide the shipping labels?
    No, we do not send you shipping labels. Every box is required to have 2 labels on it. You will be required to provide your own shipping label on each box (FedEx or UPS label). The other label will be provided by USS. The label provided by USS is a customer identification label. Boxes that do not have both labels on them risk being rejected and returned to sender. 
  • I live off-campus, can I use this service?
    This service is not available to students living off campus or Greek houses. No exceptions
  • What is the "customer identification label"?
    This is a label that USS will provide. It MUST be on every box along with your own shipping label. This label is how we will know where to deliver the boxes on campus after receiving it from UPS or FedEx. The customer identification label will also include the shipping address that you will need to put on your shipping label with UPS or FedEx.
  • What if my package arrives after the listed deadline?
    It will be rejected, and returned to sender. No exceptions
  • What happens if what I ship weighs more than 50lbs?
    If you ship a box, duffel bag, or suitcase and it weighs over 50lbs you will incur a $75.00 overweight fee per item overweight.
  • Can I drop them off to you instead of shipping via fed-ex or UPS?
    This is not an option
  • What do I do if I don't have my Fall housing yet?
    Any orders with incomplete housing information are not guaranteed to be in the room prior to move in. You can still place an order by putting a “?” in the hall and/or room section. You will need to email us to update this info as soon as you get your fall housing information.
  • Can I ship directly from a store (Target, Amazon, Dormify, etc)?
    Boxes from 3rd party vendors such as Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, Walmart, Amazon, etc. will not be accepted! *The reason being is every box MUST have our USS customer identification labels on them. Large companies such as these will not put our labels on the boxes that are being shipped.
